ANNA Crusis Feminist Choir is excited to expand our Board of Directors! Do you want to make a real difference in the Philadelphia area?

Please read over the Board of Directors Responsibilities and consider whether you have the commitment, energy, and enthusiasm for this work. If the answer is yes, please apply!

BOARD OF DIRECTORS RESPONSIBILITIES 

The ANNA Crusis Board is responsible, as the governing body of the organization, for the fulfillment of its mission and accountable for the organization’s operation. The responsibilities of the Board are as follows:

STRATEGIC

  • Maintain the organization’s mission and purpose.
  • Define strategic directions.
  • Ensure comprehensive, effective long-range planning.
  • Ensure member’s needs are served and services provided that reflect the mission and direction.

ORGANIZATION

  • Formulate and establish policies.
  • Appoint, support, and evaluate the Artistic Director and/or administrative staff as appropriate.
  • Ensure that board committees and ad hoc task groups are working effectively.
  • Assess the choir’s and the board’s performance.
  • Plan for board succession.

RESOURCES

  • Ensure long-range financial stability.
  • Create and monitor budgets and finances, ensuring resources are managed effectively.
  • Provide leadership and participate in fund raising initiatives.

ADVOCACY

  • Enhance the organization’s public image.
  • Influence others to support the organization.
  • Actively support the organization in the community.

GOVERNANCE

  • Understand and be committed to the mission, values, and goals of the organization.
  • Follow and understand trends in the arts.
  • Ensure boards of directors’ responsibilities are achieved.
  • Ensure accountability to members in an ethical and business-like manner.
  • Prepare for and attend monthly board meetings and annual retreats.
  • Serve as an active choir committee member or Board officer.

LEADERSHIP

  • Inspire and lead.
  • Contribute to a sense of camaraderie and teamwork.
  • Ask good questions, expect good answers and contribute to decision making.
  • Serve as a resource in a particular area of expertise.

SPONSORSHIP

  • Support the organization with a financial contribution consistent with individual means, using guidance in the Board by-laws.
  • Support fundraising efforts by personally soliciting gifts, identifying and making connections with potential donors and/or providing leadership in fundraising initiatives.
  • Link organization with community resources.
  • Serve as an advocate for the choir.
