Song Is A Traveler December 2017

“We’re all nomads, immigrants, or refugees at some time in our lives.  At the edges, we feel songs, stories, laments and hallelujahs strongly.  We find that singing and pulse are a meeting place.  Music is physical.  Music moves us.”  ~ Moira Smiley

ANNA brings to light stories of longing for and finding space to the forefront, both personal and communal, in this concert with our guest artist, Moira Smiley.  Featuring settings of music from Appalachia and early American folk traditions set with a contemporary flair, gospel ballads and Cuban love songs, to haunting music by community driven composers like Ysaye Barnwell, this program promises to touch deeply, instill hope and a sense of pride in who we are, and asks what more can we do to help our fellow travelers along in our journeys together.

Funds from this concert will go to help hurricane relief in Puerto Rico.
